Elevate Your Space:
Key 2024-2025 Interior Trends

Timeless and Trendy:
Favorite Trends from your North London Interior Designer
Traditionally, the first part of autumn is bustling with design and interior exhibitions across the UK, making it one of my favourite seasons for inspiration. The plethora of shows, events, and exhibitions allows me, as a North London Interior designer, to explore new materials, connect with suppliers, and dive into the latest trends in the UK and European markets. It's an exciting time to see how interiors are evolving and to find fresh ideas for my upcoming projects.

Some of the trends I discovered during these shows have not only made a lasting impression but have continued to stay relevant into 2024-2025. I’m particularly thrilled to say that many of these trends were already incorporated into my North London interiors projects during 2023-2024. Today, I’d like to highlight a few of these styles that continue to captivate and inspire the world of interior design.

1. Bold Reds and Terracotta Hues
Rich, vibrant colours like bold reds and deep terracottas are powerful statements in 2024 interiors. Whether through accent walls, rugs, or statement furniture pieces, these hues add a dramatic flair that commands attention. Paired with gold accents, they create a dynamic, luxurious feel that I love integrating into my designs.
I've already used terracotta tile paired with terrazzo tile in my own bathroom interior. This colour gives a lot of energy in the morning and brings drama and moodiness in the evening when paired with muted artificial light. It's also incredibly warm and comforting on rainy days.

In one of my recent projects in Mill Hill, North London, I used terracotta-reddish chairs to bring warmth and brightness to a north-facing room. The combination of this vibrant hue with blue and teal accents created a unique, personalized space that my clients love—a design that feels warm and energizing, even in the more shaded areas of the home.

2. Nude and Figurative Art
Nude art is timeless, offering a sophisticated and often bold visual appeal. This trend goes hand-in-hand with another emerging style: art featuring faces. Both of these forms bring a raw, human element into a space, grounding it with a sense of intimacy and character.
Faces bring a lot of energy into a room, so take your time to find your art. I helped one of my clients find a beautiful piece—an artwork featuring a woman with blue lips. It certainly makes a statement! The centerpiece of the room is this captivating piece, which immediately draws attention. Most of my client's guests say "Wow!" when they enter the room and are mesmerized by the face. Some visitors might not fully understand her choice, but who cares if the owner enjoys it 100%?

3. Metal in Decor and Furniture
Metallic elements have gained major prominence, becoming statement pieces in contemporary interiors. Whether it's a polished brass light fixture, a sleek stainless-steel side table, or bronze sculptures, metal brings a refined edge and elegance to a space. Metals are excellent for catching light, allowing them to add depth and create a luxurious, modern ambiance in any room. Used strategically, metal accents create striking contrasts when paired with soft furnishings or natural materials, making rooms feel larger and more sophisticated. With their versatility, metallics seamlessly blend into various styles, from industrial to minimalistic to mid-century modern.

4. Soft Pastels: Baby Blue, Pink, and More
Soft pastels like baby blue and baby pink are making a strong return, lending a gentle, airy quality to interiors. These shades introduce calm and balance, perfect for crafting peaceful, inviting spaces that feel open and fresh. Pastels pair beautifully with neutrals, enhancing softness, or with darker hues like charcoal or bold reds for a more defined contrast. Their versatility allows them to work well in bedrooms, living rooms, and even kitchen spaces, where they brighten up and soften hard surfaces. Using pastel tones can also bring a playful or nostalgic touch, evoking warmth and familiarity in modern design.

5. The Illusion of Softness
One of the most imaginative trends I’m drawn to is the illusion of softness—objects that appear soft yet are made from solid materials like wood or metal. These pieces—such as cushion-like wooden sculptures or plush-looking metallic forms—challenge our perceptions and invite people to interact with the space. It’s a playful approach to texture that adds a sense of wonder and curiosity to any room. By using this illusion, you add a sophisticated and artistic quality to the decor while also offering a unique focal point. This trend perfectly balances functionality and art, making the pieces both conversation starters and design statements.
6. Gold: The Everlasting Elegance
Gold continues to reign as a timeless choice, especially when it comes to accent details in interiors. From gold hardware on furniture to gilded frames and golden light fixtures, this element exudes warmth, elegance, and a sense of luxury. Gold accents pair beautifully with deep colours like navy or emerald green, as well as with light tones such as white and beige, providing balance and brightness to the decor. It’s particularly popular for creating a modern glam aesthetic, adding just the right amount of sheen without feeling overpowering. I find that gold accents create cohesion in a room, effortlessly elevating the overall design.
7. Digital Technology as Art
Digital technology is transforming into an art form in itself, with frameless TVs and interactive monitors becoming focal points in modern interiors. Imagine a screen that doubles as artwork, showcasing different visuals at the touch of a button or interacting with its surroundings. Interactive screens offer creative potential, allowing homeowners to display dynamic scenes, from moving landscapes to tactile, immersive scenes where elements react to touch. This technology allows art to be flexible, making it an adaptive part of the space rather than a fixed decor element. It’s a perfect blend of innovation and creativity, bringing modern sophistication to any room.

8. Tapestry and 3D Textile Wall Art
Textile wall art is making a bold return, adding depth and character to spaces through tactile surfaces. From traditional tapestries to modern 3D fabric art, these textiles bring texture and warmth that paint or wallpaper alone cannot achieve. Using textured wallpaper, like rattan or woven fabric, can add a layer of sensory interest that instantly transforms a room. Heavy textiles or detailed tapestries can make a room feel intimate and grounded, while lighter options add an airy, layered look. These pieces become eye-catching additions, enhancing visual appeal and creating a cosy, inviting atmosphere.
9. Unexpected Playfulness
Unexpected and whimsical elements can create a memorable design by adding a touch of playfulness. For example, placing a small stone on a dining table as a decorative element invites curiosity and invites people to touch, feel, and interact with the space. Adding playful details creates engaging moments and allows a space to feel unique and personalized, moving away from purely functional decor. These surprises can be subtle or bold, designed to delight guests and make the decor feel dynamic. This approach encourages people to interact with the room, making it an immersive and memorable experience.
10. Furniture as Art
Furniture that functions as both a practical item and a piece of art brings sophistication and elegance to a space. I particularly enjoy incorporating unique furniture designs, like a wooden cabinet with a hollowed-out section that houses a small stone or other unique materials. These pieces showcase craftsmanship, merging form and function into a single, cohesive design. When furniture becomes art, it enriches the space, creating an ambiance that feels curated and intentional. This trend encourages a sense of pride in one’s space, as each piece serves both a functional purpose and an artistic statement.
11. Bringing the Outdoors Inside
Integrating large potted trees indoors is a trend that brings a sense of serenity and freshness into interiors. Plants help to blur the boundaries between inside and outside, connecting space to nature in a grounding, calming way. Tall trees or lush green plants in large pots serve as focal points, bringing a refreshing and organic element to rooms that balances out other decor. The presence of natural elements not only enlivens the space but also promotes well-being by adding oxygen and a soothing aesthetic. This approach is ideal for anyone looking to create a harmonious, health-centred home that feels alive and inspiring.
