In a lively North London household, a cold, north-facing bedroom with an awkward layout and six identical doors was transformed into a calm, elegant retreat. Wanting to move away from the typical white-and-grey scheme, the clients envisioned a space that felt cocooning and personal. Soft cream walls wrap the room in warmth, while terracotta accents on the coving and skirting add vibrancy. A garden-inspired mural wallpaper sets the palette, complemented by textured furnishings, brass details and layered lighting that bring depth and comfort.
Bespoke joinery resolved the room’s visual and functional challenges, with slim wardrobe doors painted to match the walls, creating a seamless, unified look. In the ensuite, fresh finishes, improved storage and a thoughtful mix of dark wood, green tones and herringbone tiles extend the bedroom’s natural, tranquil character — resulting in a space that feels both elegant and restorative.
